5 Ways Being Organized Can Save You Money

Most clients want to know how much their professional organizer charges. I ask, how is being unorganized saving you money? Most answer is that it is not. There are many ways that being organized can save you money. I will give you the five I encounter most of the time.

The first way that being organized can save you money, is to eliminate the late fees you pay because you can not find your bills. You have piles of mail and documents to be filed strung throughout your house. By the time you find the bill, it is past due and you may have already received a late notice bill. These can cost you hundreds of dollars in fines every year. Keeping all your bills and other documents in one place will eliminate this problem. Also, scheduling a day every week to pay bills will keep you up to date.

The second way staying organized will save you money is you know the items you have.

Many people go out and buy another tool or gadget because they can not find the one they have. They know they have the item, but they just cannot find it. They end up with 3 hammers, 5 vegetable peelers, or 10 pairs of scissors. Having a place for everything in an organized manner will eliminate this problem.

The third way is missed opportunity. You receive an invitation to a sale or a discount on a service and you forget because it is buried in a pile somewhere in the house. You miss the sale that was going to save you money and now you have to pay full price for the item or service.

The fourth way is coupons. Hundreds of coupons go unused because they are buried in drawers, piles or lost on the floor. Having an organized coupon file for groceries and for dining will help you to be able to use them and save hundreds of dollars.

The final way is donations. When you clear the clutter on a regular basis, you are able to donate many items and get a tax write off. Think of all the clothes you are no longer using or that you no longer care for, someone can use them. The same goes for all those toys your child has grown out of and there is a child out there needing it. There are many organizations that will take your unwanted items that are in good shape. Clear the clutter, help someone, and save some money on your taxes.
